CNR Class U4a and GTW Class U4b 4-8-4 locomotives

Canadian National Railway U4a class locomotive and Grand Trunk Western Railroad U4b class locomotive were born respectively
in 1936 and 1938 as the sister locomotive for the international express service from Montreal, Canada to Chicago, U.S.A.
The Canadian Section between Montreal and Sarnia was taken care by CNR U4a locomotive and the U.S. Section between Port
Huron and Chicago was taken care by U4b of GTW, which is a daughter company of Canadian National Railway.
U4a locomotive was built in 5 pieces at Montreal Locomotive Works in Canda. U4b locomotive was built in 6 pieces at Lima
Locomotive Works in Ohio, U.S.A.
The beauties of this locomotive both in style and colors coming from the harmony of the American, English and French cultures have been fascinating a lots of locomotive funs over 60 years.

Main Features of the Models

The model has been handcrafted in brass exactly on the scale of 1:87.
The engine and the tender weigh 740g and 327g respectively to the capable for pulling a long train.
A flexible diaphram with an automatic coupler is installed between the engine and the tender.
The first class paint job has been done on the model. Body painted CNR green. Cowling, boiler, Cylinder cover and combustion side painted gunmetal. Mechanism painted mat black. Front and smoke box painted gloss black.
The cab hatch and front coupler cover can be opened.
Full brake rigging and derail prevention chains are equipped.

カナダ国鉄U4a型及びグランド・トランク・ウエスタン鉄道U4b型蒸気機関車は、カナダのモントリオール、米国のシカゴを結ぶ国際列車
の姉妹機として1９３６年、1９３８年にそれぞれ誕生しました。機関車の運用は、カナダ内のモントリオール・サーニア間をカナダ国鉄
U4a型が、アメリカ国内のポートヒューロン・シカゴ間を同社の現地法人、グランド・トランク・ウエスタン鉄道のU4bが担当しました。
U4a型はモントリオール機関車工場にて５台、U4b型は、米国ライマ社にて６台製造されました。
この機関車の魅力は土地柄に由来する米英仏文化の融合による美しい色とスタイルで、６０年を超えた今でもその美しい色とスタイル
は、多くの鉄道ファンの心をつかんで放しません。

製品の特徴

全長８９フィート３インチ、全高１５フィート３インチ、全幅１０フィート２インチの寸法を１：８７スケールで忠実に再現しました。
エンジン部の重量は、７４０ｇと重く、パワフルな長編成がお楽しみ頂けます。
この機関車の魅力を再現するためカナダ国鉄グリーンを特別調合しました。　又、カウリング、ボイラー、シリンダー部等はガンメタル色。走り装置は、つや消しの黒。正面火室部はつやのある黒とこだわりの配色です。
動力部は、定評のあるキャノンモーターとコースティングギヤの組み合わせです。
キャブ・ハッチは、開閉式で、インテリアも装備しています。　又、ブレーキロッド及び脱線防止用チェーンも忠実に再現いたしました。
